Fine Art Corner

My fine art practice is a space for experimentation, nostalgia, symbolism, and visual storytelling outside the boundaries of commercial work. Drawing on my background in fine art and photography, my work moves between painting, photography, and digital media, often combining different techniques and imagery within a single piece.

Surrealism and conceptual art played an important role in shaping my creative language during my fine art studies. I was particularly interested in Freud's theories around sexuality, the unconscious, and the death drive, which encouraged me to explore the psychological and symbolic possibilities within imagery. Those early explorations continue to influence the way I approach ideas today.

My work is also heavily influenced by the visual culture of the 1990s and 2000s. Growing up with the bold, irreverent imagery of MTV, pop culture, fashion, music, and advertising left a lasting impression on my visual instincts. I enjoy taking familiar imagery, objects, and cultural references and placing them into unexpected contexts, allowing them to take on new meanings.

Symbolism remains central to my practice. I am interested in the associations we attach to images and objects, and how colour, composition, juxtaposition, and visual references can communicate ideas without necessarily explaining them literally.

Unlike my commercial work, there is no client brief behind these pieces. They are created intuitively, often beginning with an idea, image, colour, or reference that catches my attention. The studio becomes a place to experiment, play, and follow an idea wherever it leads.

Below is a selection of personal work created over the years, spanning painting, photography, and digital experimentation.  (long before AI was even a twinkle in a robots eye!)
